Please come to our annual meeting on Wednesday September 25th at Indian Ladder Farms at 6pm to vote on two vacant board positions! Below are our amazing candidates!
Ryan Brown
My name is Ryan Brown and I have been climbing for just over 3 years and part of the Thacher Climbing Coalition for 1 year. I joined last fall as a general member and shortly after became the Membership Chair of the Coalition. I am the one who sends out those periodic emails reminding you to renew your memberships. In addition, I have been able to bring you entertaining topics of discussion on the Facebook page and setting up events like the annual meeting and trail-work days. This past spring, I also jumped on the opportunity to join our development team to keep developing mesmerizing climbs at the premier climbing area of the Capital Region
Ben Kurdt
When I started rock and ice climbing 18 years ago, I started working at Eastern Mountain Sports. While half my paycheck went to climbing gear, I realized that I wanted to work outside of four walls. In the spring of 2005, I decided to make my way out to the Northwest and try to get onto with a guiding company on Mount Rainier. I made it on and guided glaciated terrain in North America, South America, Asia, and Antarctica. After 5 years, I was looking for some stability in life. I moved back to NY and went to nursing school and graduated in 2013 as an RN. I also got on with Albany Fire Department in 2015 as a full-time Firefighter/EMT. I have been involved with the Thacher Climbing Coalition since March 2015. With the TCC, I have been in charge of interacting with the area rescue agencies on coordinating training and communication between all parties involved. I am making my services available to the Thacher Climbing Coalition board with the main focus of maintaining and improving access to cliff.
Michael Wentworth
I am a 24-year old engineer living in Troy and I have been climbing for around 1.5 years. I enjoy having the opportunity to help out at Thacher. It is awesome to be a part of developing a new local crag and I think that Thacher is on its way to becoming a top notch sport climbing destination.
